On water, pacing & Summers Gifts
We are well and truly in the heart of summer. I hope you're ok.
I cannot emphasise enough the importance of water water water throughout the day. It's amazing how just missing one small cue can lead to fatigue and a confusion between hunger and thirst.
So here we are, at another pivotal point - half-way through the year and another seasonal shift with the light starting to draw in again. Thankfully very gradually so we can enjoy long light-filled days for a while.
Whilst we can think of summer as high energy and high productivity, it's gifts are much more about allowing, going with the flow and enjoying the ripening of the seeds sown in spring not to mention play and laughter. I hope you are able to enjoy them. Perhaps that is the one benefit of warmer days - you naturally move more slowly to cope with the heat!
If you struggle with any of these or perhaps the whole thing of being seen and not playing small which is another of its gifts, I encourage you to perhaps join us this Saturday with details at the end of this summer solstice note.
Solstices are less intense than equinoxes thankfully. But still, they cause an internal shift, like a detox really which can be rather uncomfortable. I've definitely been feeling it, wanting chocolate to boost my energy..
I find checking in with myself by lying down on the floor and taking some deep breaths gives me the necessary pause to reset a few times in the day and pace myself to avoid burnout. I know it sounds crazy but if I don't actually remove myself from my desk and lie down, I don't pause in the same way and attune to my intuition. In just a minute or two of rest, I get clarity and know what my next best step is. What a relief!
Is there something that helps you?
If you're in need of a more intentional break, if things have been hard or you need a longer reset moment, perhaps to fully embrace summers gifts. And get some shade. I never thought I'd say that in Guernsey. Craig and I are hosting a Qi Gong and Guided Meditation circle on Saturday and we have a few spaces left.
Qi Gong is designed to be simple and easy to follow relaxing the body and easing our busy minds.
Guided meditation and reflective practices support you to feel centered and aware of your needs helping you to navigate each day as it comes and to experience more ease and joy in your life.
